Enugu State APC; Matters Arising From National Reconciliation

Ken Nnamani Seeks to Redeem his Image as an elder Statesman, dumps Ministers camp.

Reconciliation Committee identified 3 factions, Demands Harmonization of Positions by the 3 Factions.

Sequel to the Meeting of Enugu State APC Stakeholders with the APC National Reconcilation Committee, Major Enugu State APC Stakeholders met in Abuja to have a common sincere ground before meeting the National Reconciliation committee since peace is what should be achieved if the APC in Enugu State must achieve the purpose of a political party in a state. The meeting was presided by His Excellency Sen. Ken Nnamani.

Some Stakeholders in the meeting includes His Excellency Sullivan Chime, His Excellency Rtd. Group Captain Joseph Orji (PhD), Dr. Ben Nwoye, Mrs Kate Ofor, Chief Emma Enukwu, His Excellency Sen. Ayogu Eze, High Chief Vinmartin Ilo, Hon. Chief Joe Mammel, Hon. Mr. Osita Okechukwu, Bath Ugwuoke – DG research, Ikechukwu Ugwuegede, Hon. Ujam, Chief Onyemuche Nnamani, Sen. Eugene Odo, Flavour Ezeh and Mrs Ozogbu etc.

Before the commencement of the Meeting His Excellency Barr. Sullivan Chime raised an observation that the meeting will not accommodate certain level of individuals as PAs as the meeting was not scheduled to have such category of persons like Flavour Ezeh the PA to the Hon. Minister of Foreign Affairs who was absent to the meeting. He noted that he cannot seat in the meeting with flavour as he and other should have come or send their own PAs.

Flavour tried to defend himself by saying that he is a stakeholder in Enugu and have paid his dues and is in the meeting in his capacity as a stakeholder not to represent the Hon. Minister. But he was reminded that the meeting was not for all APC Stakeholders but for certain class of stakeholders. At this juncture, Sen. Ken Nnamani now ordered flavour to leave the venue of the meeting. While leaving, Chief Emma Enukwu, the woman from Ozougwu family and two others followed him out of the meeting in Solidarity.

Recall that Emma Enukwu was the same man who started counting the voters of the failed congress from higher number and didn’t show how he ended at over six hundred votes. His manipulation and instigation of crises in the party is just for selfish gains to clinch a national office with the support of the Hon. Minister and the incoming State Chairman.

Addressing the Meeting, Sullivan narrated that he ignored the said congress because the APC Enugu State had prior to the purported congress raised Zoning committee which zoned positions that was adopted by the Enugu State APC and instructions was given for each senatorial zone to go and Micro Zone positions given to them. He observed in agreement with all in the meeting that Zones went and Micro zoned positions, returned and presented their candidates from the micro zoning. Enugu North and Enugu East zones Micro Zoning was presented and adopted. The Enugu west Micro zoning which finally micro zoned the State Chairmanship Position to Aninri, Awgu and Oji River Federal constituency because the Udi, Ezeagu Federal Constituency have almost all major positions that have accrued to Enugu west Zone. That at the meeting, the People of Greater Awgu were able to come up with one candidate who was presented to the larger house in the Person of Group Captain Orji (PhD). But to his surprise, the micro zoning in Enugu west was ignored and everything was suspended to be continued later. Subsequently, the issue entered the next day which was 16th and he received calls from Sen. Ken Nnamani to come for the congress election. He noted that he refused because that was not what should be done, besides that he have no tag as a delegate, neither was he with any delegate list to prove that there was any sincere preparation for an election.

Also at the meeting, Dr. Ben Nwoye was adopted as the Enugu State APC Caretaker Chairman. Some others who spoke at the meeting noted that the minister have no problems, but observed that after one discussed with the minister like brothers, immediately he briefed Flavour, the whole issues as agreed will change. That flavour is now the minister while the minister is serving flavour.

Arguing, Ayogu Ezeh and Eugene Odo said that flavour should have being allowed to stay in the meeting since we are in the process of peace, but they were objected that the continuous neglects of the minister by sending flavour who always play his own card to a crucial meeting will no longer be tolerated and that another meeting will be scheduled with fresh invitation of the minister by Chief Ken Nnamani and that he should also ensure that Her Excellency Chief Juliet Ibekaku comes to the meeting. They also noted that what peace entails is the decision of the majority and not the command of one man.

Hon. Eugene Odo also requested that Chief Ugo Agballah, Timothy Amah, AC Udeh and some others should be invited to the next meeting, but he was Sullivan Chime objected the invitation of Ugochukwu Agballah to any meeting of APC towards reconciliation or election matters. He quoted the date that Ugochukwu Agballah Visited him and told him that he wants to join the APC and that the APC Revalidation and Registration had come and gone for a long time. He said that Ugochukwu Agballah is not a party member and have no rights to vote or to be voted for.

On his side, Sen. Ken Nnamani Showed his displeasure on several abnormalities he observed from Ugochukwu Agballah and the ministers people and noted that he will henceforth stand his ground in other not to rubbish his pedigree because of desperate people. At the meeting, a decision was reached that there will be harmonization and that a committee will be set up at the next meeting to harmonize positions and that the Greater Awgu people will retain the State Chairmanship position zoned to them and will be requested to meet and give APC Enugu State a State Chairman without further interference from any outsider.

Mr. Osita Okechukwu was appointed to speak for Enugu State APC at the meeting called by the National Reconcilation committee. To accompany him are Group Captain Orji, High Chief Vinmartin Ilo and others. He was mandated to appeal to the Reconcilation committee to allow Enugu State APC time to harmonize positions from ward to State level in other present to them a peaceful and united APC list of executives.

At the meeting with the APC reconciliation committee, the matter was presented, and the committed agreed that harmonization should take place but identified three factions thus – His Excellency Group Captain Orji, Onyeama/Nnamani and Dr. Ben Nwoye faction. They instructed that 5 representatives from each of the factions comprising 15men should meet and do the harmonization. Speaking at the meeting of the National reconcilation committee the minister of foreign affairs said that he was briefed that everything went well and that Ugochukwu Agballah won convincingly. But Sen. Ken Nnamani noted that his own report is not hearsay but that of an eye witness. That he was at the congress to observe with his own eyes what was happening. He advised the National reconciliation not to adopt anything that happened on that congress day as it will amount to setting Enugu State APC on fire.

The National Reconciliation committee awaits the harmonized at their next meeting.
