Peter Mbah is a consolation gift to Enugu State.
As the 2023 General election draws closer, political and public affairs analysts in Enugu State can see through the minds of some Enugu State Electorates. There is no doubt that the outgoing governor Failed in all ramifications. Not only that he failed to keep Enugu clean, develop Enugu State or even make the little infrastructures he built solid, he failed to coordinate the state in crisis time like other governors, who are alw online to issue statements. He is nothing less than a deaf and dumb Governor who was only interested in land grabbing and retiring his enemies politically by using community stakeholders and leaders on the pretence a reward which have not produced any good fruit but a source of bitterness and war amongst party men and women in various local Government areas.
There is no doubt that Enugu State people love PDP and have voted the party since it creation till 2019 with the hope that the party will solve their problems. Even with the abysmal performance of the PDP over the years, especially the administration of Governor Lawrence Ugwuanyi, Enugu people still can chose PDP ahead of APC until Peter Obi joined Labour party and they felt that a credible alternative have been born. But Hon. Ejike Okeke, a political and Public affairs analyst and a stakeholder in Enugu State who in many times have taken tours across the state to evaluate the level of development and government attention in the rural areas have different opinions.
He observed that it is only PDP members that is contesting the 2023 Governorship election in Enugu State. While Peter Mbah was seen as the only credible man in PDP amongst all that showed interest in the position prior to PDP Guber primaries, others were desperate to contest. The long list of Guber aspirants further confused the incumbent Governor in making a choice of his successor. But after the intervention of notable personalities in Enugu State Mbah, a global investor with promising stake in oil and gas sector was tipped as the best amongst all. This decision was a shock to some of the aspirants who felt betrayed by the governor based on claims that the Governor assured them individually that they will succeed him. An action they said is worse than being a chameleon.
Prior to this decision, a former commissioner under Ugwuanyi, Chief Edeoga, had already resigned to contest the governorship ticket of the PDP. When decisions went against him and others, they scattered into other political parties. Edeoga and Nnaji went to Labour Party, Frank Nweke went to APGA, others to other parties. APC under any condition is never a choice for Enugu state people, so Labour becomes the only alternative because of Peter Obi influence. But the big question of who amongst all the candidates have the required capacity, pedigree and vision are before Enugu People.
Hon. Ejike Okeke observed that Dr. Peter Mbah irrespective of the failure of PDP in the State without doubts is the best choice this critical time. He observed that a change of party does not change someone’s capacity but just a necessary way of grabbing power. It will be a disaster that you wanted change, you have it in your house but anger made you return to worse situation than you were.
Since all the Guber candidates in Enugu State are PDP, but in different Political parties, we won’t be deceived into making the worse choice from the list of PDP men presented to us. While they accused Mbah fortune of being Enugu State Money, they forgot that almost all the other candidates have directly or indirectly served under different administrations of the PDP. It is capacity and a track record that Mbah was able to utilize his money and grow to the level of becoming a global giant in the oil sector thereby becoming national job creator. It is advisable to place your money in the hand of a known progressive. Recall that there is a court case against individuals who accused Mbah of financial crimes, an indication that Dr. Peter Mbah is not hiding himself or source of his wealth but is ready to prove beyond reasonable doubt that nobody have evidence of financial crimes against him. So far, cases in courts against Dr. Peter Mbah in order to scuttle his plans for a new Enugu State yielded no water and the man is even waxing strong. Recall that Sen. Ike Ekweremadu noted that Mbah is a credible alternative and endorsed him with a request that Mbah should integrate his programs and supporters into his agenda and campaign team. This request have since being granted. So many other notable personalities in Enugu State like a one time Military Administrator of Gombe State His Excellency Rtd. GP. CP. Orji (PhD) an Aircraft maintenance Engineer from Nenwe was at aninri to receive Dr. Mbah based on his conviction that Mbah is the best amongst all. The duty is before us the elites to educate others who may have little or no knowledge of these candidates and what their expectations should be.
Let nobody hid under Peter Obi or labour party to deceive you, let everybody tell you what they have done with their private businesses as an evidence that they are good managers that can manage the state. Remember, Peter Obi distinguished himself as a good trader same way Peter Mbah have distinguished himself as an oil magnet. Therefore the only better choice available for Ndi Enugu is Bar. Dr. Peter Ndubisi Mbah.
