The Presidential and National Assembly Elections in Enugu State have taken care of the fears of Enugu people regarding destructive godfathers who may hinder the next governor of Enugu State from providing the required governance to the people of Enugu State.

Recall that Rev. father Mbaka in one of his sermons cried over the usual and suspicious return of the old order by Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi. This fear is not just to Mbaka alone, many believed that there were no need for such recycling when people needed new breeds of politicians who they can comfortably access. The desire of Enugu State people to ensure that Peter Obi of Labour Party emerge victorious provided solution last Saturday. Almost all National assembly Candidates of the PDP lost their return bids. The event of last Saturday, have placed many big politicians in PDP on the bench and cleared the way for the incoming governor Dr. Peter Mbah to work without unnecessary influence from these retired men.

Based on this act of God to see that the next administration function effectively, it is now time for the Enugu East zone to unite and ensure massive votes for Dr. Peter Mbah. The idea of Isi Uzor must be eliminated as Enugu State rotation agreement is based on senatorial zones and not local government areas. When it is the turn of any zone a choice from one of the local government will be made considering many factors. Enugu East people must focus on competence and capacity and ensure that PDP wins this election. The majority of labour party people in National assembly will provide checks and balances to the incoming Enugu Governor. When a government is comprised of different political parties at the Executive and Legislature, the job of governance is done with seriousness and commitment. If Enugu State people wants development, Peter Mbah must be returned elected. The major reason the PDP didn’t have any zeal to develop Enugu State was the over confidence that they are everywhere and that they have no competitors, but Peter Obi momentum have taken care of that.

On the other hand, Nsukka people who are flavoured with the Deputy Governorship candidate must understand diversity and allow capacity rather than sentiment to prevail. The mindset that Isi Uzor is one of them should be eliminated since the geographical sharing of power in the state have taken care of that. This myopic tendencies should also be an eye opener to the Enugu west people especially Greater Awgu who will produce the next Governor after Peter Mbah, because Enugu West people is comprised of the Udi Agbaja and Old Awgu zones and this have reflected in their sharing formula. Any attempt to support a suspicious claims that Isi Uzor a local government in Enugu East Senatorial zone will be retaliated by same Enugu East people when the rotation time comes. They should understand these facts and support Dr. Peter Mbah because an Isi Uzor mindset is not a justified argument.
