As the day for the 2023 Governorship and State Assembly Elections draws closer, there is need to consider the individuals involved and deliver the best Governorship candidate with his house of assembly candidates in order to have a uniform house with the same agenda and manifesto. Any other candidates that may win must be through their capacity and acceptability by the people and not through anti party on the basis of relationship. The Governorship and State Assembly election coming up on the 13th day of march, 2023 is purely Political and must be on merit.
A stakeholder in Enugu State and a political analyst Hon. Ejike Okeke noted that what happened at the presidential election that made PDP witnessed a nightmare at the pools across south East was a necessary sacrifice for the image of Igbo nation and for a new Nigeria clamoured by Nigerian Youths. He noted that anti party is a burial ceremony for any political party if done by the majority of the members of such party in any pooling booth, wards and Local Government Areas. Candidates that didn’t have names nor campaigned anywhere had huge votes and are even victorious in some areas because of the atmosphere created for Obi by all Political parties in South East.
An average local man or woman don’t have the wisdom to vote two logos (Two different Political Parties) when given ballot papers. So it becomes an advantage to the party that other parties are supporting because of a particular candidate. If the PDP must deliver Bar. Peter Mbah as the next Governor of Enugu State, PDP Party members in Enugu state must know that Obi have been given the desired honour and that the Governorship election must be party based (Political) and as well based on capacity. Nobody is in doubt of the capacity of Bar. Ndubisi Mbah when compared to other Candidates for the Governorship election. The PDP are in the market with the best product, it will be a renegation to them to try to educate any local to vote for any house of assembly candidate from another party, especially the labour party in any local government area on the basis of relationship or a fellow community man or woman. Such mix up as witnessed in the presidential election may spell doom for the PDP. Consequently all PDP members must return to the villages to Educate the people on the next logo and explain to them in Clear terms that It is no more a national affair but now a family business.
The Governorship candidate, the Local Government Chairmen and all other government appointees must make it compulsory for stakeholders to deliver their pooling units and use the result sheets of the pooling units to retain their appointments and as well seek new appointment from the incoming government. There is no sentiment in politics and no reasonable person will bring down his house on the account of saving another man unless precious material worth more than that house is involved like the case of Peter Obi.
Although many may argue about the capacity and character of some house of assembly candidates in some constituencies or their relationship with them, the bigger picture should be the target (Governor). Remember, an average house of assembly member have little or nothing to offer you but the governor have a lot to do for you, your community and the state in general.
Based on competence, capacity and pedigree, Enugu State irrespective of anger of neglect and poor performance by the PDP have no choice better than to elect Dr. Peter Ndubisi Mbah because he is the best that we have for this 2023 Governorship election in the state. His blue print is fantastic, his personal business is flourishing and he have the charisma required of a State Governor
