To decide to stay as one Nigeria by Supporting Peter Obi for Presidency or to Push for Biafra

To an average Igbo youth and certainly some elders, the release of the Leader of the indigenous People of Biafra Mazi Nnamdi Kanu as campaigns kick off for 2023 Elections was a pure political move to divert the attention of millions of South East and South South Supporters of Peter Obi. The economic and security effects of his continuous detention on South East region is no more considered by many especially the active youths in politics and others that have political interests.
Some believed that Mazi Kanu that they know will never support peter Obi based on the fact that they are at cross roads on the Biafra agitation. Others said that Peter Obi was more interested in the presidency than the freedom of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, this claim to many was justified by the fact that Obi failed to visit Nnamdi Kanu in DSS cage. But the fight that Kanu have engaged over the years was for the interest of the Igbo Nation that cuts across South East and South South Regions. This to an extent is a focus point than individual differences.
Consequent on the fact that this issue of IPOB have led to many situations in the South East particularly, there is need for the majority of the Igbo people especially members of the IPOB to pay urgent visit to Mazi Kanu immediate he is released to demand that he stand with the choice of the Majority of the members of IPOB. There and then, they should be able to ascertain without sentiment the mindset of the Majority of IPOB members and other Igbo youths and leaders. This will make it a general decision and will be acceptable by all having arrived at a decision by the Majority and not just an individual command.
Any decision taken will determine if the Igbo are for Biafra or for one Nigeria through the demand for Equity and fair play. This will ensure that the Obi Presidential election will either received general approval by the Igbo People or disapproval. If Obi candidacy is approved, Kanu and his leadership will engage Igbo Governors and other top Igbo Politicians to Support Obi Presidential election unconditionally.
While many believed that Obi will be rigged out and thus see no reason to go for the Presidential race as a solution to the Igbo demand for Equity and fair play, it is believed that politics is a game of lobby and diplomacy. When the right steps are taken to gain the supports of other regions and it failed in 2023, coordinated efforts should be made to sustain the momentum for the demand for Igbo President through lobby and use of good words when making speech on National issues. This decision to focus on one direction will make us appear more serious to other regions than living in division of choices
But in a situation the Majority demands for Biafra, we should be able to adopt a more conventional approach through town hall meetings and engagement of our politicians to see reasons for the emergence of Biafra Nation. We should equally adopt more international approach to gain favour even by those we believed had continuously worked against Biafra realization. We should look vividly on where we failed in our approaches and adopt more diplomatic ways.
If the Igbo people for the first time made a unified decision, it will be an added advantage to either the struggle for Biafra or for the President of Nigeria and each 8s realizable through coordinated diplomatic and unified means.
While we thank God for the victory of Mazi Kanu at the Appeal Court, this is a time to test our mentality as a race that can speak with one voice and make a unified decision about our future.
