Recall that the senator wrote to the UK embassy concerning the traveling of the 21 years old man.
God cannot bring Sen. Ike Ekweremadu this far in life and allow him end in shame.
while he have made some mistakes as a human being and like other politicians, the fact remains that Ekweremadu’s good works exceeded his little errors by far. Remember, no human being is perfect.
Indeed many do not know the works of a legislature and where the power of an individual legislature starts and ends, so I will not blame anybody that have attributed the inability of the Federal and State Governments, led by the executive arm and by extension the President and Governors to establish world class hospitals across all states and zones in Nigeria, in order to reduce or eliminate medical tourism to His Excellency Senator Ike Ekweremadu as if he have ever sat on Federal or State allocations and Revenues as a president or Governor.
Unfortunately, many people don’t do research, they just sit down and out of bitterness from the frustrations of Government inability to provide basic infrastructures and amenities and blame every politician even a ward councilor and a state assembly member who cannot even talk while the governor is talking because of how the system is structured. The executive irrespective of bills, motions and advise by the legislatures implement programs that they care to do and get away with it because tribalism and religion cannot even allow for impeachment due to poor performance or incompetency.
Reading several post from people who felt that Ikeoha contributed to the failed state of Nigeria especially the health sector because of the situation his daughter’s health put him and his family into, I shed tears and wondered how some people could be this myopic and mean. Although Sen. Ekweremadu committed no crimes according to Nigeria laws, the UK laws states that once money is offered for such help a crime have been committed. But ordinarily, a person who offered to donate his kidney should be given any amount that the person he or she is assisting can as a form of appreciation because good deed attracts good rewards. But the UK felt that such rewards constitute an inducement.
But the fact remains that there were no premeditated intention by the Ekweremadus to harvest anybody’s organ hence their letter to the UK embassy and their acceptance of the offer to help by a UK based Dr. Obeta whom they ordinarily believed knows the legal processes.
To the glory of God, no organ was harvested and the crime is for now an attempt. In view of this, I urge the UK judge to look into this and see how he can give Ikeoha a sentence that won’t be to serve a jail term considering how original intentions and the fact that the actual crime have not been committed.
Consequently, I wish to ask those who hated Ikeoha due to any community, personal interests or reasons to look beyond that and put themselves in his shoes, consider the volume of constituency projects he have done across Enugu State in particular and South East in general, his efforts through Ikeoha foundation and his contributions to the development of democracy and human rights globally.
It is a known fact that no single politician representing any zone can perfectly satisfy the expectations of all communities within his constituency, because even a state governor with every allocation and revenues available to him cannot meet the expectations of all communities.
